Julieta minutos antes de Romeo es una obra que mira a uno de los personajes más icónicos de la dramaturgia universal desde la intimidad y un ángulo profundamente contemporáneo. En esta reinvención, la joven de 14 años que “tiene actitudes de veintitantos”, deja de ser únicamente el objeto del amor trágico para convertirse en un sujeto con pensamientos, deseos y sobre todo una voz propia que desafía las de su autor.
Cinco ejecutantes, interpretados por Jenny Diosdado, Dayana Rivas, Ximena Larrañaga, Mario Rendón Tapia, Osvaldo Díaz, Paulina De Lira y Javier Espejo, encarnan en su interpretación distintas facetas de Julieta, lo que permite explorar su sexualidad, sus expectativas y sus pasiones antes de su encuentro con Romeo. En su primer acto, la pieza cuenta con un tono cómico y pícaro que permite una sátira hacia los estándares sociales sobre cómo debe enfrentar una mujer su despertar sexual.
Así, la puesta en escena, dirigida por Bruno Boludo con la dramaturgia de Andrés Castuera-Micher, apuesta por un lenguaje escénico que combina el cuerpo, la voz y el sonido como principales recursos narrativos. El espacio se convierte en un territorio de confesión y juego donde Julieta se permite cuestionar los mandatos impuestos sobre su cuerpo y su destino.
En ese sentido, durante el segundo acto observamos las experiencias de cinco mujeres con su primera vez, y nos sirve para reflexionar cómo la desinformación y la presión social provocan más vivencias negativas que otra cosa. Julieta minutos antes de Romeo busca detener el tiempo antes de que ocurra la tragedia para escuchar aquello que nunca se dijo.
La obra propone un ejercicio de resignificación que le devuelve a Julieta su complejidad humana, de modo que se aleja del arquetipo romántico y la acerca a una figura autónoma y actual. Asimismo, invita al espectador a mirar el clásico con una postura crítica y recordarnos que hay más en la obra que una historia de amor.
