Las mujeres que integramos Shakespeare & Cía. vivimos una primavera morada. Luego de varios años de diversas iniciativas feministas poderosas pero aisladas, nos reagrupamos -desde el 8 de marzo del 2020- en un solo sentido y decidimos emprender de forma contundente proyectos y esfuerzos solidarios, encaminados a alcanzar la equidad de género desde el sello unificado PAPAYAVIEW, que busca impactar en cuatro ejes distintos: Artístico, Social, Formativo y Político.
Desde el eje artístico, Foro Shakespeare AC a través de Shakespeare & Cía., a través del programa México en Escena Grupos Artísticos (MEGA) y el Sistema de Apoyos para la Creación y Proyectos Culturales (SACPC) lanzó en el 2021 y 2022 la convocatoria BRUJAS: Nuevas dramaturgias para una producción escénica feminista.
De cada de una de estas convocatorias, se seleccionaron 3 obras, las cuales se trabajaron para llevar a escena y se acompañaron de actividades como conversatorios, lecturas dramatizadas, le creación y la presentación de una antología, conformando el CicloBRUJAS.
De la primera edición [2012 -2022] los textos seleccionados y llevados a escena fueron: A la orilla del mar por Wendy Hernández, Sangre y Madre por Giannina Ferreyro y Un barquito en la pared por Itzel Villalobos.
En esta segunda edición [2022 – 2023]: BRA por Rosa Aurora Márquez Galicia, Marea Alta por Ireri Romero y PÚLSAR por Gabriela Román Fuentes.
Para nosotrxs era importante seguir conformando equipos de trabajo donde se siguiera alzando la voz desde nuestra trinchera: el teatro. Contar nuestras historias, historias distintas que nos dicen que desde el teatro también podemos cambiar narrativas.
Estas 6 obras se estrenaron en el Espacio Urgente 2 del ForoSHKSPR en el transcurso del 2022 y el 2023, cada producción conformada por grandes y talentosos equipos de trabajo de los cuales más del 80% de las personas involucradas, fueron mujeres.
